Lions-Discovery to lively city of Berlin with trips to the Baltic Sea and the nearby Lausitz Region

Berlin

Warnemünde

Your host family will be waiting for you at Berlin Airport or at the main train station of the German capital. You will become part of the family in Berlin or the nearby suburbs. After a week of family stay, a welcome evening awaits you in a cool location in Berlin. Here you will get to know your other camp friends with whom you will spend the next two weeks.

Your first tour takes you to the popular Baltic Sea. For centuries, Warnemünde near Rostock was mainly a small harbour and fishing town, until around 1821 the tourist bathing business began. With its sandy beach up to 150 metres wide, the seaside resort has the widest sandy beach on the German Baltic Sea coast. Relax, enjoy sporting activities and get to know your camp mates.

What makes the Lusatia area (Lausitz) south of Berlin so interesting? Once the main energy center of eastern Germany, it is now one of the regions that is particularly affected by the coal phase-out. The structural change requires new concepts. We invite you to discuss new ways to make the region fit for the future with decision-makers and scientists. You will visit a disused coal mine. However, the bucket wheel excavator is not a classic lost place, the "lying Eiffel Tower of Lusatia" provides exciting insights into mining history. Finally, you will rappel down the industrial giant - great fun!

Of course, a stay of several days in the lively cosmopolitan city of Berlin and nearby Potsdam with its amazing castles is not to be missed. You can expect a guided tour of the historic building of the German Bundestag with its fabulous glass dome. We are planning a meeting at the German Foreign Ministry on the current political situation worldwide and the future of Europe.

You will get to know the evening life in the popular district of Prenzlauer Berg, visit a motorcycle production plant and immerse yourself in Berlin's and Germany's history. A bike tour through the Grunewald is not to be missed, as is a swim in Berlin's famous Wannsee. "Berlin is always worth a visit": This is not only what the locals say, but also Leos and Lions from Berlin's clubs. Let yourself be surprised.
